    Naugahyde    |ˈnɔɡəhaɪd|noun   trademarkan artificial material designed to resemble leather, made from fabric coated with rubber or vinyl resin.  ORIGIN mid 20th cent.: from Nauga(tuck), the name of a town in Connecticut, where rubber is manufactured, + -hyde (alteration of hide). (Yeah, I had no idea what that word meant.)

    You can never get those stains out, comic strip characters’ tears are made of ink.

    Naugahyde is stainless, isn’t it? That’s why it’s used instead of leather.
