I couldn’t believe that defense. So ridiculous! Embezzlement happens all the time. I don’t understand why there aren’t more checks and balances in place where money is concerned.

Her lawyer told her not to worry – with all the money she stole she’d never go to prison. Turned out he was right, when they locked her away she didn’t have a dime.

It used to be, debtors were thrown in prison; but this practice was withheld for a time because how could you “repay” your debt while locked in a cell?
