Reminds me of an urban legend where a guy’s dog would bark every night and would not be quiet. The guy could not get to sleep, so he ended up getting rid of the dog. The very first night after he got rid of the dog, someone broke into his house and murdered him.

Just because there’s nothing out there to bark at doesn’t negate the need to get the “bworfs” out in the open where they can do less damage.
