Bad bad Chesney … don’t know how he expects Santa to bring him presents.

It’s spooky quiet here at work, everyone must be shopping or already on holidays

Oh I’m so glad I checked on the back strips because my hand-me-down Mac keeps locking up, and I couldn’t access the strips on the days. I could never quite forgive my Mother for getting rid of all my Pogo books when I left home. When I went back to retrieve them…they were gone! I even had the Pogo Songbook..sigh. Remember “Good King Sauerkraut looked out on his feets uneven…while the snu lay all about…What’s snu? I dunno, what’s snu with you?”

    Thanks for the memories…xxxooo, =^..^= & hisses…

Queen: I am reposting you response to your post yesterday about Lulu being returned. My Precious was the same way when I got her. In fact, she was scheduled to be put down the next day (something I didn’t know until after I paid for her and she was in the crate for me to take her home) because she was so scared and antisocial, they deemed her unadoptable. I wouldn’t trade her for the world. Granted, most people never see her as she hides when anyone comes over, even people that have known me since before I got her 5 years ago, but she is out with me and soooo lovey. No one could imagine how wonderful and sweet she turned out. You just have to be patient and give them the time they need. It isn’t a switch you can flip. They have feelings and emotions that take time to develop. I am with you, I just don’t understand some people. Just glad they brought Lulu back as she deserves someone that will love her for the way she is, not the way they think she should be.

Ruby has attacked me twice now in my sleep, both times drawing blood on my forehead or scalp. While I would consider giving her to someone I knew very well who did not have other cats, I would never ever return her to the shelter.

Many years ago I gave my late, great mum something from Tiffany’s – the only thing I could afford, it was a little enamel box with the Trylon and Perisphere logo from the 1939 New York World’s Fair on it. She loved it. She had been to the Fair when she was a kid and talways alked about what it was like. I developed a bit of an interest in world’s fairs from her talking about it.

I asked my friend if she still has her Tiffany bunny and she does. She described it and I’m sure it the one posted by Happy.

I tried those very expensive dispensers for 2 months hoping Ruby would relax a little but they did not seem to help. $70 for 2 with 1 refill each if I recall correctly. I have also tried the spray. I am thinking about trying the collars for Ruby and Orange Kitty.

The only pheromone plugin I know about is Feliway. It IS pricey, but quite effective for a lot of cats. Most vets have one in their offices plugged in, to help alleviate some of the anxiety the cats feel. Granted, I think in general that’s a bit TOO stressful of a situation for most cats to really benefit from the effect of the Feliway, but maybe it still helps a little. The plugin lasts about a month. I’ve gotten it at PetSmart before – I’ve found it’s cheaper there than at some of the smaller pet stores. And sometimes they have it on sale for people who have the “Petperks” card.

When my Mother retired she came to live with us. She would travel to FL where she had relatives for 3 months in the winter. She did this until she got too old to make the drive. She worked when she was here, and the children loved her. When she was in her late eighties, she developed met lung cancer. Fortunately for her, she went very quickly. That was in ’93. We all still miss her…TMI?

I know that you can buy sets, and there is a Fan Club. Google it…who knew? I saw that one can download the complete words to “Deck us all with Boston Charlie” on a pdf thingy. I don’t trust my computer not to freeze up, so didn’t try. Thank$ for the offer ;^)

Feliway is “over-the-counter”, I usually find it in the section that carries things like shampoo, hairball remedies, etc – and some vets carry it as well, but also quite a bit more expensive to get it from them. They also make a spray you can spray in a place your kitty likes to lie in, or in their carrier about 20 minutes prior to trying to put them inside, to take them on car rides/to the vet. It doesn’t seem to work well on my Dabdoob when I was trying it for him this past summer, although since he had actual health issues, that may be why. It seems to do fairly well with his brother, though.

I think there are natural aromatics that are supposed to work for calming cats, too, I’ll check what it says in my “All Natural Cat” book when I get home (but that won’t be for about 3 weeks yet, still in Wisconsin helping my dad). Some of the natural things aren’t quite as effective as pheromones, I know I’ve tried some before. What actually worked the best for Dabdoob was a product by Sentry – Calming Collar – although because he’s not used to wearing a collar, I would only have it on him when he was in my sights.

Just want to say in regards to price of meds for our pets, and the spray to calm cats. My vet has it in her office; I have not used it; she also plays calming classical music. My elderly dog has to take meds for her arthritis which is very expensive from the vet. I am now ordering it from Alivet at a third the cost. I did have to have a prescription but my vet kindly called it in. The point being, Alivet is a good company and has many supplements as well as prescription drugs. You might check out their website. And no, I am not affiliated with them in any way. :)

If that man who returned Lulu could have seen her for the past hour, he would not recognize her. She’s been sleeping in the crook of my right arm while I played computer games with my left hand. She just woke up for a drink of water so I’m going to sneak out.. I took some pics (I keep my camera handy) and will post one if any came out good.

Well, I waited too long to sneak out. She’s baaaack! Sitting next to me, purring away… stupid, stupid man..
