This goes back to Japanese culture where it is viewed as rude not to watch the credits. As such many times there will be scenes during the credits that while minor still pertain to the actual show.
they also like to tease the next episode sometimes.
A friend treated me to the new Star Wars movie the other day, it was the first movie I saw in the theater since my 2 month coma 5 years ago. I sat through the credits at the end because I didn’t want to fight the crowd leaving the theater with my walker, but someone sitting a couple seats down from me was trying to talk a friend into staying for the surprise scene that was suppose to happen at the end of the credits, I think he was disappointed when there was no final scene.
