Jean van de Velde had a 3 stroke lead going into the a 18th hole of the 1999 British Open. He only needed a double bogey to win. He shot 3 over on the last hole (triple bogey). It was considered one of the worst collapses in sporting history. He went on to do a television ad where he used only his putter and was able to shoot a better score on the same 18th hole.
Reminds me of the old joke about the gorilla who could drive a ball 600 yards. when the trainer was asked, “how does he putt?” He replied, “just like he drives, 600 yards”.
took golf for PE class during college. could do distance but not direction. One of my balls landed on faculty house lawn at rear of campus, so I ran over there and made massive divot in some professor’s lawn as I hit the ball back into the PE field. They made campus announcement next day about not playing off faculty lawn
I grew up the only lefty in a right-handed bunch of golfers. For years, the only club they’d let me use was the putter. So yes! you can putt over 300 yards.

At least she won’t have to take a penalty drop for a lost ball.
