Many (many!) years ago, husband and I went to a party and danced the “new” dance. The Twist.Neither of us could get out of bed the next morning. We hurt in places that have no nerve endings!
Twist and Shout was a hit for the Isley Brothers here in the States, and many other bands covered it, including my all time best band, The Who, but I have to admit that the best version was the one by The Beatles. John Lennon absolutely shreds the vocal.
Andy Capp uses a device called a floating timeline, where the characters remain much the same age as their story is projected against a background which is moving forward in time. Originally, Andy had been a soldier in North Africa during WW2, giving him a birthdate around 1920-25, so he should be ninety now – yet he’s been in his fifties for decades
This cartoon today shows one of the reasons for the strip’s enduring popularity: .despite everything, Andy and Flo do at least sort-of love each other.
If the were say 14 when Twist and Shout came out (1961-63 depending on the artist), it would make Andy and Flo around 67-69 years old. Why is Andy still looking for a job? Don’t they have a retirement dole in England?
Andrea or not Andrea….. it doesn’t matter. The fact is that a community, which is what this site is, in essence, should be tolerant of others’ opinions..A troll has an opinion as do we all but the difference is that trolls think that their opinion is the only one that matters. It isn’t. If Hubby Prof is an entity in his own right, he should behave as if he was one of us. If anyone wants out…. they should go.
