As the offspring of an English teacher and a clergyman, I have a vocabulary that would knock your socks off. Or, knock off your socks, if my mum should get involved.
I have a very good reading/writing vocabulary but spoken…If I use a ‘big’ word that I know, I have a tendency to mispronounce it because I’ve only seen it written and not heard it spoken….sigh.
My husband’s vocabulary isn’t the best. When I use my big vocabulary words, he often asks what they mean. I try never to use words I don’t know the meaning of. Or, If I don’t know the meaning, I don’t use the word, if Dani Rice’s mum should get involved.

My vocabulary is fine, or, at least it was, last time I saw it.It seems to have gone on vacation….. but if it comes back, I’ll ask it how it’s doing.

Using the word ‘stupid’ means one can’t thing of a more accurate description and/or the speaker simply doesn’t like something

OK as long as I have Merriam and Webster and Roget and Bartlett to help me out.
