Queen I just noticed you post about Lulu and the tooth. I have had cats younger than 15 have this problem so that could mean she is younger. Also she may not have a lot of problems as she ages , just like us some cats are genetically healthier etc. did the vet check her over and see any other possible conditions like her kidneys? That’s what I would so you have a better idea of what to expect. She could have a good life with you and be comfortable. Keep us posted.
Could the vet be wrong about her age? There are always exceptions. When my dog Jesse was found to have prostate cancer my vet said they never get it when they are neutered young, as he was.
Eat it or fix your own, Chesney. And keep your paws outta the food. Darling pictures of cats eating Last Rose and Beviek. Not sure what that cat is going to do with a whole watermelon. And whatever happened to that poor cat with the cup on his face?
@Queen, just reading your post this am. Rikki’s right it could be Lulu is younger than 15. My Nyssa was genetically predisposed to teeth problems as she had 5 teeth extracted by 3 1/2 years old and was down to just 2 teeth by the time she was 12. She had a good diet and was perfectly healthy until she hit 14. She would at least have a good life living with you and who knows she may live 5-10 years yet.
Just a quick check in. Got some stuff moved, but still have an awful lot left. I slipped on the ice and fell. Hips seem to be okay, but knees and shins took a beating. Cats did pretty good. We have a cat neighbor that meowed from 4 this morning until the sun came up. Once it is used to smelling my cats we should be okay. I am back over at the old place trying to figure out where to even begin. Hope my kids are quiet while I am gone. Precious runs and hides at every little sound. She will get better. It is going to take at least two more weeks and borrowing the trailer one more time, but we should be okay. I have to be there for the cable guy tomorrow morning so will spend the time putting stuff away to make room for the rest of the stuff I need to clear out of the old place.Stiff and sore from the fall so moving a little slow. Keep thinking good thoughts.Once I am back on line at the new place, I’ll check to see how Annie and Chesney are doing.Wish me luck.
Chesney….I won a ‘Cooking for Pets’ book and it is on it’s way to you. Learn to be independent and also keep your little paws out of the food. Annie is doing the best she can for such a little girl.
Breakfast at the warehouse reminded me of my back porch a few years back. My Gentlemen’s Breakfast club would convene at precisely 8am. Dishes lined up and cats came up. No pushing shoving or hissing. Smokey Joe, my big grey would wait till his mates were finished and do ‘clean-up’ of the leftovers. I miss my guys! (9 boys ,3 girls) Thanks for the sweet reminder!
Update on Lulu: She had 2 teeth removed and he also found an infection under her tongue. That poor cat must have been in a lot of pain and never showed any sign of it.
Now – what will happen to her? After much discussion, Brad and I are going to be her permanent foster parents. It’s predicated on several things:
1. Susan keeps her when we go on trips. I cannot ask Diane to watch 4 of them.
2. Lulu gets along with our 3.
4. Susan will work with Best Friends to get a spot for her in their geriatric section.
5. I will write letters to some of the local retirement homes that accept cats and enclose a picture of Lula asking if any of their residents would like to adopt her.
I have had spam show up in my mailbox that has somehow hijacked names from my contacts and I don’t know how it is done-that is what happened to you I guess.
