I doubt if Obama is going to consult with these posters to determine whether his executive orders are legal. He probably thinks the Attorney General is more highly qualified to make such determinations.
If the executive orders are illegal (or legal) they will surely be challenged in court by the opposition. The fact we background check some buyers and not others is kind of stupid. We have a patchwork of inconsistent laws and enforcement covering gun sales. Either we check the background of buyers for criminal activity and mental health problems or we don’t The present system has many holes big enough to drive a truck through. We are spending money and not getting the desired result. I am in favor of universal background checks. It would make it much harder for the gunrunners to buy guns in Indiana and sell them on the street in Chicago.
Often times the laws are mute on definitions, or unclear, and Executive regulations, posted for public review in the Federal Register and added to the CFRs after review become enforceable. It doesn’t always take court review as the CFR does go through “due process”.
I initially like Chris for his outspoken nature, then it became obvious he was just a bully, and an idiot. The toon is accurate.
The NRA and gun makers have learned the lessons from the Tobacco industry quite well. Lie and lie well and you can continue with great sales for a long, long time.
Not a bad idea; St Ronnie was surrounded by good guys with guns, and trained, and still got shot. Course, we’d have to disarm the republican klown kar kandidates’ security, too.
