May be she meant “know” in the Biblical sense…

    A regular Miss “Know-them-all”…

Obviously, this gag could’ve worked for either sex, shytimes2.

JOHN Why do I think you haven’t talked you way out of this one?

It’s always hard to know how serious people are when they make comments. Based on her humorous sign off, I gathered shytimes2 wasn’t seriously devastated.

But since this deals with a serious topic, I’ll turn serious for a moment.

There’s not much to talk my way out of, Lewreader. We all know that lots of guys are hounds. I’m sure that women in a committed relationship get hit on more often than their male counterparts. And I’ve certainly taken pokes at those guys in the past.

But most of my art (coming from romance comics) features women. My job is to come up with some funny dialog to go with the art. So, more often than not, it’s women saying/thinking funny, outrageous stuff.

Sometimes the dialog is funny because it’s so absurd. Sometimes it’s funny because it hits close to home. Sometimes–depending on who reads the gag–it’s both.

I don’t have any control over how a joke is perceived. So I try not to worry about it too much.

(Although sometimes I do and then I end up re-writing the joke about a zillion times!)
