I have fond memories of the “old folks” who lived on my street, when I was a kid, particularly the widow who lived next door. Our street was really an interesting mix of widows, retirees, and couples raising their pre-war and “war babies” and eventually, like my brother – boomers".
The late ’40’s and early ’50’s was a great time for kids to grow up in.
Most real estate signs are relatively uniform. If the kids’ aim was to censor the sign, that probably will not work. The people who want to buy the house can probably still recognize the sign, or see other form of advertizing such as real estate postings.
I grew up in a brand new tract home built in 1955. Some of the folks in the neighborhood were older, but most had small kids like us. Our next door neighbors were older and we were always respectful, calling them Mr & Mrs Stanford. We didn’t know until after they moved away that the wife had always wanted us to call her “Miss Jean”. She never even told my folks that.
