I’ve heard of that stereotype, but never let it bother me. Bought a wood rocking chair when I was around 20. Decided when I became a mom that as klutzy as I am, it was better to get one with padded upholstery. After having to rock a sick baby to sleep, and sleep in the rocker/recliner (at my parents’) because he’d wake up every time I got up to put him in a crib, I made sure to buy one for our home before baby #2 was born. That’s the one piece of furniture that I never want to do without, because even as I’m old enough to be a grandma, that is still my most comfortable place to sit.
