Looks like she needs the Comedy SIdekick App for iPhone, etc… If Ted can’t keep up with the drum roll / rim shots, she can take (even more) control and let the SFX (and more) roll. http://www.thecomedysidekick.com/

Does only one tap mean that what you said wasn’t witty?

StelBel has another classic from Orshound Wells tonight!! That striking silhouette!! It could only be the Third Basset…right? Tune in at the Bassetplex this weekend where there will also be a performance of Basset Follies before the show.

Welcome, film and Cleo fans… to comment on yet another great poster from StelBel…

in the July 30th  2020 “CLEO and COMPANY” on Sherpa.

This time, for another pair of iconic roles for Orshound Welles and Joey Mutten…

Mutten as a writer, of sorts, searching for the truth about his old friend Welles through the half-lit streets and alleyways of Vienna.

in the British film that helped define classic noir…

    “The Third Basset.”

Welles didn’t direct this one… and neither did Hitchdog…

though it has some of the flavor of both their oeuvres….

It was the great English director, Carly Feed-me.

Tense, involving… even a bit hard to follow at times… it’s a journey into its time and place…

as the mystery deepens and finally unravels.

I looked to see whether humans had copied it…

Most didn’t… but this apparently German version did…

Smart move, if annoying to StelBel…

it’s a beautiful vision of postwar Vienna torn open by haunting enigma

Thank you, Susan, for providing the human poster.

Very fitting, since the place of the action is Vienna (Wien). The music is performed by this Wiener Dog:

Another Stel lar poster of the Third Basset classic movie set in Vienna. One does have to wonder if they were just there for the sausage.

    I meant to say earlier…

@StelBel…. TWO new posters from you in one week!

    I’m impressed!

And that reminds me… I didn’t get back in time to answer Nighthawks about that re-run strip for yesterday…

    So… @Nighthawks…

When I point out an older strip, or a classic bit of comedy… there’s nothing critical about it.

I’ve been a comics fan since before I could read…

I didn’t tell jokes yet… but I loved comedians, read humorous authors, and even owned a joke book, by the time I was 8 or 9.

I love classic bits… some of the jokes I like best are ancient.

Well-worn clichés make the comics world go round, because they’re a universal language.

I comment on “Fat Cats” almost every day, on its umpteenth go-round.

I read a BUNCH of strips that are completely in reruns…a big part of my comics queue…

Off the top of my head… Get Fuzzy, Doonesbury, Citizen Dog, Dinette Set, For Better or For Worse, Jane’s World, The Meaning of Lila, the rerun versions of Stone Soup and Dilbert… and more. (Sorry, I got tired of typing quote marks.)

Calvin and Hobbes, Peanuts… both in my queue and also among the most popular strips on GoComics.

Other strips, like Daddy’s Home, slip in frequent reruns.

The “new” (2020) Ballard Street is currently from 2003, and this one, of course, is from 2010.

You see how many new comments they get!

All this just to say… IMHO… you don’t need to retire a strip because we see it once a year.

If it no longer fits your vision for “Cleo and Company” … sure… drop it.

If just the art no longer pleases you… I suppose you can redraw it.

But merely being a rerun is no crime.

I doubt anybody has left because of re-runs.

Oh, Stel! What a great poster! You must’ve been working real hard, especially on those great names! Love the silhouette of The Third Basset.
