I have to go to my mental “happy place” any time I’m undergoing any medical treatment (even getting a shot!) or I’ll faint. Of course, I’ve also learned I need to lie down during it, but I’ve found out if I dwell on what’s happening, I could still faint as soon as I sit up. I don’t think anyone should stay in their “happy place” all of the time, and not deal with reality. But I think occasional visits are a healthy thing to do.

My place is warm and sunny, which beats the 18 inches or so of snow outside my door (and the stuff is still falling!)
