What’s the matter, John, can’t make your groveling for remorse even more serious? Just pick up the dang towel.

Just pick up your towel. Is Lynn making John out to be an idiot?

I’d not grovel nor tolerate violence. I’d drop two towels on the floor from then on.

Leaving it on the floor is so that it can absorb any water that drips off the body while stepping out of the shower.

When our son was a teenager, he would shower every morning, and drop the wet towel in his bedroom floor. I finally got fed up, and washed only my husband and my towels, leaving the rest on his floor. When he showered and reached for a towel, there weren’t any. When he complained I told him I washed all the towels that were in the laundry hampers. I didn’t know where the rest had gone….they got into the hamper after that.

I always use the argument that he’s a grown man, and it is where he lives. Doesn’t he want it nice and comfortable and attractive? The answer I get is usually a “no”.

That’s right. You JUST pay for it. I’m OK with some cultures having gender defined roles, as long as there’s respect and appreciation on both sides, and people who don’t fit those roles have a chance to get out. I’m wondering, do you respect and appreciate your wife? She seems to do quite a bit for you. The length of time you’ve been married could, indeed, mean that the two of you are doing something that works for you both. Or, it could just mean that she is a destroyed soul, with nothing left to look forward to (or even any ability to try) except her final, “ultimate freedom”.

Fair enough,John was being a jerk and got bopped on the head for it,but what about all the stuff lynn probably leaves lying around the bathroom, like hair dryers, curling iron, cosmetics, bra, and various articles of clothing that end up on the floor!?

If you dry off in the shower (after turning the water off of course) before you get out, the floor stays dry.

She probably has a lengthy litany of everything she thinks he has done wrong after they married.

The last panel is a twist on the expression: “can’t you take a joke?” and that’s why it is so funny, IMO.

While it is true, that her husband might have used this line, since she told us on her site, but the situation that she drew for today’s strip is a situation for the Patterson family..I have heard her speak once, long time ago, before she retired. She said that many fans think she’s illustrating her own family’s life, but it is not, it is the Patterson family of her imagination.

John is passive aggressive, all the way. It’s the default for men who feel their mommy was over-controlling.

At least she couldn’t give him a brain injury. You can’t injure what you don’t have.
