I’m just catching up on comments. I was mobile the last few days and didn’t have easy access to comments. I have a couple of comments on your comment.
1. Nobody said that Bear fell. They said that the scrapbook was “tucked” under him as if the bear was protecting it. Falling on it wouldn’t likely lead to that description. (It could, but it seems like Bear was intentionally protecting it.)
2. What makes you think it wasn’t Winter? I’m pretty sure that Gasoline Alley is somewhere in the northern hemisphere (likely in the roughly NE part of the U.S.) where it is currently Winter. There don’t seem to be any leaves on the tree right behind the car in today’s first panel.

The colorist is still in mourning. Maybe Jim ought to write the bear back in to the story. (Worked for Bobby Ewing in the shower.)
