I would have had nightmares if my mother had told me that. : O

Chop off and re-hem the pants - ta da! Capris!

My 4 year old has a heart condition that makes her really skinny. So she can wear a 2 T in pants and they fit her around the waist and look like capris because she is so tall.

Wonder if it’s the same “someone” who regularly makes hay with my wardrobe, taking my clothes in at the seams??

Gweedo, not too oversized - horrible for the kids to have to wear way too big clothes half the time. Next size up is fine - this will eventually happen anyway.

The problem with wearing them too short or too long is that with kids – usually – there’s the problem of width, too. Kids don’t just grow vertically but horizontally as well.

I guess we’ll just have to chop of your feet, shorten your legs and re-sew your feet back on, Elizabeth…

I have the same problem when I get out my seasonal things but mine are limited to my waist, the gremlins always take them in too much.

Better idea: join a baby stuff circle. My son inherited 90% of his wardrobe for free from a friend who inherited from a woman who had twins. Half the stuff was still in really great shape. They wear it for so little time.

In return, I’ve passed on a bunch of the clothing stuff that was still in good shape to my cousin who has a son a year younger, and forwarded a bunch of my son’s old toys back to the friend who gave me the clothes since she’s got a little girl about 10 months old now :) She got my son’s highchair too and was thrilled. When she’s done with it, it’ll go to one of her friends who’s 6 months pregnant now.

I have this problem too. Right before school starts too. I have a whole garbage bag of clothes to give away just from the last week alone. Thank goodness for Frenchy’s, Salvation Army bag day and Walmart’s $1 rack. Now, if only kids shoes were as easy to find second hand as I”m sure we’ll have to break the bank for those :(

There’s a Winnie the Pooh book where Roo is convinced that everything in the Hundred Acre Wood has shrunk, because not only are his clothes smaller, but he can jump farther and so on. It’s a cute idea and one of my favorite books to read with my kids. (And that’s my book report for today.)

It does seem that my five year old has shot up almost overnight and is now more of a big girl. I know it has to happen, but it makes me very wistful.

What about Occam’s razor? I know for a fact, the man never shaved.

@howtheduck: You are right! Kids grow fast, but not that fast in one week!

Kids most definitely grow that fast. My daughter who was just an itty-bitty one day was enormous the next day just minutes after her brother was born. :) I remember thinking “When did she get so big?”

Yep, Elizabeth has sure had a growth spurt!

Ms. Lynn Johnston… slow it down, the kids are growing up too fast… again! :-)

That is a Brilliant idea! I do not have children myself, but It is a lovely idea to pass on to my friends that do! :) Thank you.

My clothes are all like Roo’s. They shrink after about 3 months in the closet. Unfortunately, I can’t jump any further or higher like Roo.

That’s ok – now they’re crop tops & capris –right in style.
