Would that be a sign that TV news is underwater? or gargled commentary?

Just curious, but isn’t Miami on the wrong side of Florida to be affected? Or is this just a comment on how mixed up the facts are for anything in the media?

    MatureCanadian,

There is a current, I don’t remember the name, that goes from the Gulf of Mexico around the South end of Florida and becomes or joins the Gulf Stream going North up the coast and eventually heads North East. It ends up keeping the weather in the British Isles milder than it would be otherwise. The oil was supposed to follow this current.

See this link from the University of Miami and this one from Wikipedia.

edit: Of course it is The Gulf Stream. Sometimes my brain goes on freeze!

W6BXQ - Thanks for the info. Forgot my geography lessons and you are very correct about it being the Gulf Stream. Mea Culpa

And because of the Gulf Stream, England has tropical islands. But of course, that’s Scilly.

If the oil gets into the Gulf Stream, does that mean it will end up on England’s shores???
