My LBD grandog is a rescue and is clueless about playing with a ball, tossed or not. How can I show her how to get the ball for a game I would like to play with her? So far, she just ignores it.
Summerdog, I have no advice on how to train an LBD, sorry. They tend to be a bit singleminded. However, after 3 Scotties/mixes, we got a rescue Yorkie a few days ago, and she can toss her ball. I can’t resist bragging: https://kuzenski.org/cricket_2

Only child? What about Brambley? If she loves you so much, get her to toss the ball for you.

Oh, the other thing is, we always used to say “You don’t issue commands to Scotties, you begin negotiating” ;-)
