Interesting. Get rid of the outliers and obtain a more realistic picture of the student’s application to the subject.

Never was a problem for me. Best and worst were the same. My average was 100% usually.

Caulfield, I don’t think Mrs. Olsen has any delusions of your grandeur.

He’s gonna need a good score on the final exam just to get a passing grade, he can’t afford to tank it!

In Tucson (and maybe in the rest of the wanna-be third world of Arizona) school kids are now unpaid raters of teachers. In the fall they give the kids a “Teacher Growth Pre-test”, then in the spring they inflict the exact same exam, called the “Teacher Growth Post-test.” This has NO BEARING WHATSOEVER on education. The teachers and students never see the scores, either by student or even just a class average. All that happens is the “Powers that hate teachers” use these scores to decide which teachers to fire, if the kids haven’t improved in 5 months..My son (in high school) and his classmates figured this out, and slacked off on the first test, then did their best to ace the second — because they like their teachers. It’s easy to believe there are smart students who do the opposite, to try to mess with their teachers. The term for this type of thing is “garbage in, garbage out.”
