When I was in kindergarden in a small California town, if the bus driver thought she saw us talk we had to sit on our hands for the rest of the trip and our parents got a note. Three times and we’d get kicked off the school bus for a week. The only time I got “caught” was once I yawned, politely covering my mouth as I had been taught. She insisted I had my mouth covered because I was talking.
I was once shown the door for singing along with a song on the radio. The same driver booted another kid off for throwing up (diifferent day, unrelated).
HectorPriam I’m surprised with setting off fireworks on school bus worse didn’t happen.
I never was kicked off any school bus.
I heard where we use to live a friend of my daughter said one of the kids would read their book on bus and get bonus points when book was finished.
A significant amount of Bullying starts on the school bus and when the driver looses control of the bus not only are the children in danger from each other, they are ALL in danger from a distracted driver having an accident.
I remember on a school bus when role call was being taken, I answered “Here” in the usual way, but had to get off and get back on again all because one student answered “YAHOO!”

Can’t discipline them. Can’t make them walk Can’t let them hurt themselves. Can’t let them hurt each other.
