The interesting thing about Kirbee is that she started out as a kind but clueless ditz. As she’s been out topside, she seems to have become smarter and she has shown a good amount of insight. Could it be that she was clueless in Unity because she never had a chance to think about anything? Or did she REALLY not want to think of what’s going on down there?
Irving: “Yeah, Kirbee! She’s supposed to learn that nothing is more important than to be keeping everyone else around you happy! Because no matter what YOU want, you’re never going to be able to keep any of it. Now, you wanna watch Kirbee and Wally’s date or not?”
I just found a couple of fan arts regarding Aaron’s computer problems. One possible theory on what happened to Aaron’s hard drive.Kirbee seems to bringing out some of Aaron’s inner David Seville.Holly trying to be helpful.
I suppose it is fortunate that Wally and the others can wander around in what seems to be Holly’s life. Me, I’ve always had the suspicion that when I’m not actually looking at something, it ceases to exist till I look at it again.
Aaron glad to see that you’ve been able to take care of your problem with your computer. We are getting some interesting insight on all of the characters we are currently following. I like how they are able to step up when they have to rely on each other.
I’m so happy to see this strip today. Hoping it means all computer trouble is swiftly being ameliorated. Nothing worse than being a creator of any kind, and having your tools fail you. The delay made me realize how much I look forward to each strip.
@rickD (yesterday’s reply) – That may be true. But remember that his mother was the Queen, and she loved her son enough to want to keep him. His father, however, is the reason he was forced to live in the passageways, and had to work under that cook. And let’s not forget Dear old Dad made no effort to get his son out before having the passageways gassed. Remember what happened when the Queen found rags blocking the only window she had for being with her son?…Queen Helena loved her bird anthro son. No doubt about it.
I must say, I am impressed with how Kirbee thinks. I’m thinking Kirbee didn’t have a lot of friends in Unity because she didn’t hate non-lizards like everyone else did. If given the chance, she and Queen Helena would have probably been BFF’s.Now that she’s found someone who is not afraid to take her seriously, her wisdom shines through.
I don’t think Holly’s the only intended witness. All of them are expected to get some meaning from this. It looks like Chick is supposed to be getting some mental healing as much as Holly. In panel 2, he may be realizing that if the parents of this doted child are fighting before it’s born, then maybe he’s not so responsible for his own parents’ fighting. Children in dysfunctional families need to know that their parents were fighting before they came around, and they’re not to blame if their parents break up or hurt each other.

I love that meaningful look that Chic exchanges with Irving in the second panel. I don’t think he’s envying Holly’s would be child as much as he was.

It almost looks as if Chic is looking at something significant in that last panel.

No, I think that Irving would be looking at it, too, and he’s not.
