I carry printed out directions for long trips even though I have a GPS, just in case it stops working.
I never thought of it as a theft deterrent, but I guess it would be.

Need to make a dummy gas gauge to stick over your real one that always says, “Empty.” This way they won’t want to steal the car if they have to put gas in it.
