There is a certain logic there. And I’m inclined to doubt that very many people in the office will even notice it’s not the real Ed (Rita certainly won’t), or actually care if they do notice.

So what’s Ed going to do with all this spare time to himself? Sleep?

He is not sleeping, he is contemplating the most efficient way to do his project.

Or, as a co-worker said when our boss found him sitting up sleeping, “I was praying.”

I wonder who actually gets less work done, Ed, or Wally from Dilbert (or would it be a dead heat?)…

I recall that Ed was there on a Sunday doing his work. He apparently did his best work when he was alone. Right, guys?

Low expectations = minimum effort.
