Lately I’ve been wondering about the copyright date on these showing 1996. I thought C&H ran new from 1985 through 1995.

Halley’s comet was a huge disappointment for me. I read about it at a young age, and how impressive it was. It turned out not to be visible to the naked eye. Bleah.

In 1910, at age 8, my grandma tried to get out of doing the dishes using this same excuse. Didn’t work for her either.

Sorry, Calvin! A comet appearing in the sky does not get you out of your school assignments; past history and superstition notwithstanding!

Superstitions are so middle aged. It’s good to believe in something, but something hat gives bad luck and/or brings destruction, well, that’s too much.
