Bug Blog by Cuco Rocha Terror Phone - The FBI uses the "All Writs Act" of 1789 to justify asking apple ti give them an iPhone backdoor. They couldn't find a law less than 200 years old? In all fairness, it doth mention thy "YePhone."
Ye was pronounced “THE”. I read an excellent article on how English books were printed in France and the closest print character to TH was a character that looked like a Y and was substituted. It was written by a respected language expert, so I assume it is true.
Actually the character looks more like a combined lower case b and p. Y was chosen because it was less likely to be mistaken for one of those 2 and was less common than either.
I find myself confused here – do you guys really believe that the NSA does not have a back door to I phones? How about they got all the goodies off it but they don’t want the bad guys to know they have – and now they are listening in to what the shooters friends have to say each night
Making our technology less secure is no way to “get rid of the terrorists.” Like Night-Gaunt said, this will jeopardize every iPhone and, when the FBI wants, every Android phone, your computer, etc., etc., etc. Even if you trust the FBI, as soon as the crack is out there, all sorts of bad actors, including criminals and other states, will be able to access all our data that much more easily. And “the terrorists” will simply put apps on their phones that keep them encrypted, while normal folks have that much less privacy. Don’t forget what that Founding Father, Ben Franklin, said: “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”
