Adams and Jefferson hated each other. Adams, as were Federalists in general, was terrified of the idea of letting the common man have the same political rights as the educated upper class. Jefferson, despite having slaves, believed in equal rights for all- who were male and white. .Lincoln was despised by most of the country, even many northerners blamed him for pushing the south so far that they declared war.FDR was the exception, the common man loved him for pulling us out of the depression, and there weren’t too many people who weren’t common men after it. And, Hitler tended to make most Americans really loyal to whoever was in charge.Basically, Democracy is messy. Now, the establishment is in the pocket of the 1% and the rest of us aren’t happy about that, so whichever party nominates someone who is considered not part of the establishment is going to win. And, we could easily wind up with four years of a president who is part of the 1% because we hate the 1%. If that makes sense to anyone, please explain it to me.
We haven’t had a president who wasn’t a 1%er in decades.
Look up presidential net worth. There have only been 9 US presidents who were not millionaires. Harry Truman was the last non-millionaire president we had.

Yes. Seen from outside it is both entertaining and terrifying.
