And, once again, Nate is missing out on what he really wants to do. And he will hear about how great it was from all of his friends. About this time he has got to be wondering if the bragging rights of having a girlfriend are worth the things that he is missing.

Wait, I thought this was a private date just with Nate and Trudy! Oh, and I bet Nate will be probably fall down while doing it! .

I have a funny feeling that it will be Nate that ultimately breaks things off. It remains to be seen though…

The deal with Trudy is that she likes Nate a lot and has no signs of wanting to break up. But she never seems to ask what Nate wants to do, and seems oblivious to the fact that either Nate’s not having fun, or the seventh-graders are making fun of him. Nate should start speaking up so she doesn’t have an upper hand in the relationship.

Also, how come so many Big Nate characters have the e sound in their names? Jenny, Trudy, Angie, Kelly, Dee Dee, Teddy, Marty, Gordie, Randy, Mrs. Godfrey, Mrs. Shipulski, Kenny (Ellen’s boyfriend from the beginning of the strip), Wesley (the principal), Mrs. Czerwicki- the list probably goes on and on.

Does Nates’s last comment refer to his skates, Trudy or the overall situation?

Apparently they made the date to go skating long before the cartoonist scheduled his visit.

I’m in eighth grade with size 3s! Dude, not alone.

I’m in the tenth grade and I’m a three. I remember reading this strip when it first came out, like, ‘oh yeah, I’m in third grade and I’m a 13, I’ll be a seven in sixth grade, why not be a eight?’ And then in fifth grade I became a three and I’ve been wearing the same blue sketchers ever since.
