ANandy is closest to the truth…
the cartoon minimizes the harm done by the anti-USA website and by those who took the leaked info and published it worldwide.
Not only were local people named or identified, but in some cases the GPS (map/satellite ID location) was given. The terrorists will no doubt be combing the “news” for info to go and take revenge on anyone (or their family members) who is suspected of giving any info to the USA or the USA-backed government.
Soon the latest news will be reporting bodies…some head-less…being found…..and our necessary Intel system will be hampered.
That website owner has a lot of blood on his hands, IMO.
Two guys go missing, and the US goes nuts “worrying” about them, but not the 12 KIA in the same time. They find the bodies of the missing two, and they also disappear as a simple statistic.
A little kid goes missing, probably killed by a relative, and for weeks the news focuses on it. Over 100 kids are killed in a DAY in the US by cars, and it isn’t even news.
“Secrets” changed a lot under Reagan, Bush 41 and 43. Iran-Contra was to be kept secret, but Valerie Plame’s identity was released for political purposes by Cheney.
REAL security breaches SHOULD result in the ultimate penalty, with treason, like Oliver North and his pals committed. Internet available information from lots of sources around the world is hardly a “security breach”.
The important point is that the information was true, in a Democracy we (the people) need the truth in order to decide if our elected officals are lying to us (never a good thing, never really neccessary), and are doing their job (this information shows that they weren’t.)
There is nothing in this that helped the “enemy”, unless you consider the American People you’re enemy, which is what Chaney/Bush did.
