Heart: So how am I supposed to take a bath with this cast? Mom: Well, we have to wrap your arm in plastic and I will have to wash you! Heart: insult to injury. Mom: Remember when you were little and I used to give you a bath? You were so cute back then!

Did Mom also plastic wrap Heart’s leg cast? (I’ve never been in a cast, but how do you bath yourself while in a cast if you live alone? Very carefully I presume.)

Her cast would have to be wrapped but since she just dislocated her knee cap, its probably not in a cast.. When I dislocated mine back in the 90’s they just wrapped it in an elastic bandage after putting it back in place. All I remember about that was the pain even with pain killers.

Large plastic garbage bags and tape let me shower after knee surgery. Tape placement and removal became an art-form.

Be glad you aren’t an adult. My brother, yes he is an adult and had his own place, was hit by a car while riding his mountain bike, exercising before a race. Broke both his wrists. After he got out of the hospital, my mother had to help him bathe, dress, and the rest because his wrists had pins and braces inserted. In court, his lawyer sprung the question about how it felt to have his mother take care of him until his wrists healed. They had to call a recess to let him compose himself, because he broke down in tears. He won his case.

That last panel is so adorable! Heart should be grateful that she has a mother that cares so much.

I once had my right arm in a cast, and I used a plastic shopping bag when I’d shower. That wasn’t all too bad..The most awkward thing is when your arm (that has your dominant hand) is in a cast, and you have to wipe yourself. THAT is when things get complicated.
