If Steve Melcher is reading these comments, I’d be interested to know more about this artist. I can’t find him by “googling.”. The spinner has a beard and what seems to be a dress, but perhaps the artist was evoking earlier times?
A somewhat enlarged version of this cropped image can be found at the only work, by this artist, so far, to appear in Mr. Melcher’s blog (yesterday). Its click-to-enlarge version can be found here. The Spinner isn’t, as far as I can tell, currently shown online by its current-location, other than as a background image in a current-location document (look for Leibl, from signature at lower right of painting, Mr. Melcher had a typo).I couldn’t find a full colored image, or a description. Clicking the image here will open a full, b&w image, that can be interactively enlarged. The artist’s Wikipedia page (Google translated German Wikipedia page has more) and collection (more under Subcategories at each level).First work, by this artist, to appear here.

For a recovering political junkie, commentating of Mr. Melcher’s caption is a HUGE, I mean HUGE, temptation !
I was going to say that today is sort of like Super Bowl Sunday, but on reflection, it’s more like WWE Saturday !
