Still, with all that hardship, Michael finished the paper and the dog ate it!

Well, I was right yesterday going to be a map of Canada, but didn’t know it was going to be one of the provinces. (Excuses, excuses, Michael.)

He had three weeks to do it. But it’s everyone else’s fault that he didn’t complete the assignment. Ironically, there are many who post here who will agree with him. So why should anyone ever take responsibility for their own actions when so many people will accept the idea that when they procrastinate, it’s someone else’s fault?

I never managed to get that excuse past my mother let alone get the chance to use it with the teacher. But 40 years difference in time and acceptance of attitudes might be a help to him.

Welcome to your future, kid. “Blame” is the consequence of sloth.

It’s never our own fault. At least that is what we tell ourselves so we won’t look so lazy to the world.

I hated school and didn’t do well till I took night classes and got a degree in programming. It was important so I applied myself.

EXCUSES—never ‘flew’ in our house. If you had job to do it had best get done or there would be consequences—withholding of allowance, restricted playtime(both after school and weekend), no after school TV, etc. until such time had past that there was an assumption that a lesson had been learned.

My theory was – I knew the material; why waste time practice it.

I got a chuckle out of Michael’s excuses. I have heard them all, in one form or another, over the years, and probably used a variation of them myself, when I was his age.

Waiting three weeks had absolutely nothing to do with it.

Yes, but he learned a valuable lesson from that incident (and an even better reward!), didn’t he?

Either that was a sarcastic comment about the term or you are implying all generations before or since are somehow inferior because they did not serve in WW2.
