the watches are hand straps on a shuttle-bus that moves passengers between the terminal and exit-on-the-tarmac planes.

They are hand straps, yes, but the watch gimmick looks like a (rather clever) advertisement that the watch manufacturer put on the straps. It makes it look like you’re wearing the watch. Note the tagline, “Try it here. The big pilot’s watch.”

Yes! Definitely an advertisement. (you mentioned my name on your blog! woohoo!!)

I had to look up “Jimmie Dodd” - I never saw the MM Club TV show (I DID see all Annette’s “Beach” movies, though).

One thing which might be news to many of you is that Jimmie ALSO played ‘Lullaby’ Joslin in “Shadows On The Sage” in 1942. Betcha didn’t know THAT!

(I didn’t either, until I looked him up to see who in the world he was…)
