That’s no good. Savings bonds are historically a poor investment compared to almost anything else.The only place to put large sums for the long term is real estate. Like they say, they aren’t making any more land.
The simplest thing would be to buy a really nice apartment building, all cash. Live in one unit, pay somebody to manage it, then live off the rental income.

Or they just work really odd shifts, either beginning around noon and ending about eight, or beginning at 4 or 5 am and running until noon.
