My grandparents used to refer to it as a list of people who weren’t going to ride the streetcars any more. (Extra points if you remember streetcars.) There are mornings when I chek to see if I’m on the list, myself.
Printed out newspapers? Maybe not.
I’ve been reading the obits for many years on-line.
FB or some other social medium will completely cover this and largely has taken its place already.
