“Is it… tan shoes with pink shoelaces?”“Pink Shoe Laces”: 1959 release by (13-year-old!) Dodie StevensListen on Youtube (live recording) (original recording with lyrics)
It sure aint no"white sport coat with a pink carnation" !
“Pink Shoe Laces” hit #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and sold over a million copies. Depending on who you believe it may have been released when “Dodie” was 12 or recorded when she was 11.
This revenge does not seem to be based on the idea of her seeing Tracy killed, which increases the chance of Notta surviving the end of the story. Personally I like revenge stories to be of this type rather than trying to kill the hero as we know that will never happen. At least with this angle it can be successful for awhile, then we get the excitement of watching Tracy restore his reputation.
Y’know.. maybe its just me but I don’t recall Putty Puss singing THIS MUCH the last time he was in the strip. It’s somewhat annoying actually. Theoretically, if he is singing this much theres no way in blazes he is gonna pull off a Tracy ruse, unless he shuts his trap and has Notta do all the talking….and I guess we’ve FINALLY discovered that Blaze ISNT the dominatrix she presented herself to be, she is completely under Notta’s rule it seems.
As I said in my comment to “Jim in CT” – a criminally insane person might be in a work release program, but he certainly would be under some form of supervision.. And here we have the additional problem that this particular criminal has the unusual ability to change his appearance, and thus basically disappear. So they put him in a cab, with a “Bye,bye, see you later” attitude? Come on!
There had to be a payoff or some other shady reason for his (temporary) release. He’s obviously considered dangerous since his guard had a stun gun unholstered and at the ready when he was released.
Like I suggested before, maybe the treatments have wiped the violent tendencies away.
Well, he hasn’t shown any violent tendencies yet, so who knows? Maybe he’s been “cured” of the violence. Maybe he’ll even go back home for dinner. We’ll have to wait and see.
I appreciate and enjoy Mike Curtis’ writing and have since he started writing the strip. I don’t know what’s going to happen in this arc that is just beginning. I have stated before on this board that I am not a great fan of revenge plots. Still, I understand the grind of writing a daily strip and the demands it makes on the writer. Even in story lines that I do not particularly like, I still am able to find enjoyment in the unexpected twists and turns that Mike incorporates into his writing. I do believe that this team has more complex and interesting story lines than Locher in his final years even though I consider Locher’s artwork in earlier years very good. Whatever my personal opinion of a particular plot line or development in the story, I am entertained daily by both Mike’s writing and Joe’s illustrations.

Uh oh, is that a camera? Looks like Notta and “Dick” won’t be going out on the town after all.

Personally, I think Blaze is going to thwart Notta’s plans.

“And a big Panama with a purple hat band.” BTW, if he sings the one about an itsy bitsy yellow polka dot bikini, I’m leaving!

I haven’t heard that song in many many years, and here we are – the second time in a week that it has been brought up in my circle.

You don’t think Notta’s going to do a Kim Kardashian video, do you?!-(Quick – does Tracy have a tattoo from his days in the Navy?)
