Wonder how different this ‘toon would have been if Lynn Johnston’s dentist husband had married an earlier girlfriend? Maybe this ’toon would never have been created…
Ah, the power of music to bring back memories! I think it was Paul McCartney who said that once he recorded a song it wasn’t his anymore because it would be every listener’s song. We all have certain songs that take us right back to where we were when we first heard it.
-I’m assuming you thought you were being funny. So, you suggested that a 10th grade Canadian girl with Irish heritage discarded a 10th grade Canadian boy back in what was probably the 1950s (?) , because (a) she wanted to be a terrorist (which concept may not have even existed in Canada at that time) and (b) a 10th grade boy knew he wanted to be a dentist.
Aside from the amazing concept that anybody in 10th grade already knows he or she wants to be a dentist, I’m not sure what you thought was funny. ??? Can you explain?

Poor Jon. Those high school flashbacks are painful.

The predictable punch line would have had John saying -I want to runaway, run, run runaway.

I wonder if “Runaway” was “their” song? Maybe Patsy ran away because John wouldn’t-couldn’t dance to it.

“If memories are all I sang, I’d rather drive a truck” – Rick Nelson, 1972. Smart man, that Rick Nelson…..

Maybe it’s because you couldn’t dance, John. If there’s a chance that this might be true, I pay REAL close attention in this class…

She’s an American and you assume she wants to be a terrorist because she has an Irish surname? What an asinine and racist comment.
