That’s fairly typical behaviour for a boy his age,but he’s cheating his friends too.they’re doing all the work.Maybe John will have a fatherly talk with him when he gets home from the office, you know, one of those leave it to beaver moments.
Reminds me of a time many years ago when I told my four kids that I’d give them a penny for every piece of paper they’s pick up from our lawns – front, back and side. I think they started making small pieces out of larger pieces. I ended up with a clean lawn and it cost me several dollars. So long ago I can’t recall how much, but much more than I anticipated.
Yes, & same thing happened when I looked like I was having fun digging up dandelionsin our front yard. I gave the crowd of children a bucket & a digger. Result was a clear yard in 20 minutes! Yup, I liked Tom Sawyer’s ability to encourage help in painting a fence!
@Nightgaunt49. “Politics is not a lazy persons game” Maybe, maybe not.Certainly not when they are campaigning for office like the presidential candidates are doing right now, that’s 24-7 for a year or two.In Canada the senate is appointed by the ruling party, and if you ask the average Canadian how much good work they do,the answer will invariably be none! Some of them live outside of Canada, and only show up a few times a year.Members of Parliament get a life-time pension af ter serving 6 years in office.People serving office at the local level work much hader for much less money! It seems to me that most of the work is done before election, not after.

But Mike’s a very literal kid. (okay, sneaky) I would have done the same thing at that age.

There’s no loophole – she asked them to pick up the litter. If it’s in a trash can, it isn’t litter.

Like painting Aunt Polly’s Fence in Tom Sawyer. He got the money from them to do his chore, but they got the satisfaction of having done it.

That’s a strange alley considering it’s pink! Never seen that colour asphalt/concrete/whatever before.
