You’re a real fashionista for men, Earl. (I’ve heard there are sock suspenders.)

It all started with Joe Namath…..if my memory serves me correctly. Now as long as Earl doesn’t start wearing a training bra for his man boobs I guess it’ll be okay!?

Some of us are old enough to recall men’s sock garters that attached below the knees. I only recall one person near my age ever wearing them, and laughter was irrepressible. Then we had the stage of no socks with our Bass Weejuns.

Having experienced each case, I’ve found the loose socks problem to be more manageable and less uncomfortable than the wearing of pantyhose. But to each his own.

Actually there is a rumor that the Navy Seals in Survival training in Florida were issued pantyhose to protect themselves from leaches.

    This is laugh-out-loud funny!

My grandfather always wore a nightshirt instead of pajamas, and he wore sock-garters – upside down – to keep his nightshirt from riding up.

The men’s kind were called “Paris garters.” Very stylish in the 1950’s.

Sans the elastic, pantyhose hearken back to those long stockings worn in the Middle Ages by men. They wore a suspender belt about their waist with points hanging down, to which the bodystocking was attached. PH are just a case of re-inventing the wheel.

when I was still on active duty (USAF) we had something like suspenders that clipped to your shirt tails and then to the top of your socks… serving the dual purposes of keeping the shirt neatly tucked in while holding up your socks. Didn’t care for them myself but they served their purpose or they wouldn’t have been sold at the clothing sales store.

oh yes… i wore that type of “suspenders” in tech school and for a while at my first assignment. then I got better socks… the USAF issue black wool socks would NEVER stay up.
