Athletes are paid entertainers. They are paid based on what revenue they generate. Male athletes generate more revenue. You may argue the justice of that, but those are the facts.
This is a miss. The ones who won’t let the girls play in the pay box are the ones who run the pay box: ESPN, NBC, ABC, CBS, the other networks and the people who hold those reins. It is all about the cash and, until they see a new and additional revenue stream that does not impact what is already in place, the girls will continue to be shut out.
Title IX only applies to collegiate sports, and has nothing to do with professional sports salary equality. Since no Federal Financial Assistance is involved…
When women are capable of playing on the same team as men and being able to compete at that level …. then they “might” get the same pay. Although in athletics , even men don’t get the same pay.
Probably sacrilege to say this on this, or Tank McNamara, but professional and collegiate sports are a huge, corrupt racket. It’s all about the revenue, nothing to do with the sport or the athlete.
While it is true in the United State that the Women’s National Soccer team both wins and out draws the Men’s National team, that is most assuredly NOT the case elsewhere in the world. Even in the US, the club league (MLS) out draws and women’s alternative club group.

Sorry, pwbritt. Women’s soccer generates more revenue than men’s. Women are still paid vastly less.

Got to agree with the womens tennis and soccor. Both sports bring in big money, but the players need to strike to get a fair deal.
