They need to go down a few layers of strata and get to the 16’ 160k IBM floppies.

Hey, Runs with Beer - but did you wire your own circuit boards for the PCAM machines? Or work on an IBM 1401 with 4K (yes, that’s 4,000 bytes) of memory?

RUNS WITH BEER You beat me but the punchcards I used defended the US against Cuban or Rooskie invasion.

@aircraft-engineer - You would like my 20MB drive then! It has a 14 inch platter and weights about 50 lbs. Didn’t have a boat so it never got used as an anchor.

Still beats the first hard drives I used - 7.5MB with 6 platters and a HYDRAULIC system to move the heads (IBM was the manufacturer) and yes, I punched cards to create programs. Ouch, I am old!

I used to play with drums. Mounting stacks of disks in a drive that looked like a washing machine.

Vic 20 with a cassette recorder for a “hard” drive. By the way Vic 20 referred to a 20K ram. Also had a modem for my “online” experience of typed bulletin boards. My printer had 4 color pens that “drew” the letters, numbers or “picture”.

Real men don’t have floppy discs
