I don’t mind paying tax if it is going to what is is supposed to. Because of the terrible devastation from the earthquakes here in Ecuador and the already ongoing recession due to the oil crises, el Presidente has taken is raising our IVA ( sales tax ) by 2% ( bringing it to 14% ) for a year, and other temporary tax measures, in order to get money for the infrastructure rebuilding that needs to go forward and for assistance to the thousands of b people who’ve lost their homes and livelihoods. It’s a small sacrifice for the more fortunate to help those others. The provinces that were affected by the earthquakes are exempt from these tax rises. I have not heard one person ( so far ) complain about this. Everyone is willing to give something, no matter how small, to help their countrymen.
