Claire - go for it. My two mutts were nearly run over by a car that shot out of a driveway after dark and without lights. They expressed their opinion by leaving a deposit on what could have been a claim for compensation in the letterbox of the offending property.
No, not too bad, it was in a plastic bag because, as a responsible owner, I carry a supply in case of little doggy doos.

LOL! My grandparents used to tell people when they called that the other one was at the bank making a deposit if they were “unavailable”.

Leave a pet deposit on a daily basis.
If you take the bigger apartment you will only atract more unwanted guests.
