This is probably the first homonym/pun I ever became aware of. (I basically learned reading from Peanuts rather than Dick and Jane).

Ah yes. I remember reading this as a very small child with chicken pox, out of the first Peanuts collection paperback. I also remember wondering why CB was eating lunch (alone) at Patty’s, or Patty was playing at CB’s house while he ate lunch alone.

I’m the opposite. I can’t stand crackers in my soup. Then again, I’m not a big fan of soup in general…especially tomato.

I like my soup bare.

What about the “Gladly The Cross-Eyed Bear” joke?

I feel your pain CB, I love crackers in my soup, in fact I usually have soup with my crackers.

I guess he won’t get the Bare Necessities then.

I’ve had bear soup. Well, bear stew actually. I don’t recommend it. It’s sort of like especially gristly beef with a sort of fishy flavor. I guess that’s because bears eat fish. :-P
