This scene gives a good indication why Holly retained her married name for so many years since the end of it all. Even with all the yelling and arguing, there was still a lot of love.I find myself wondering if Lyn is running this ship. What would Holly choose if she found Lyn? Would she be like Flask and want to be with him in any form, even if it were a PT that didn’t know who she was?
A burden carried alone is the hardest kind. Having some one you can really trust to understand goes a long way.Makes me wonder why she can’t trust Lyn. She could have explained that when she got hit by the airplane that she was returning the Buddibombs. A little white lie, but it could have helped save her sanity. Then getting hit by the airplane and didn’t get them returned, Forgetting they were still in her purse.
Then, after that, she could tell him the truth about her neighbor calling for help and the rest of what happened was not her fault, how Ethel had become a large snake and the Buddibombs acting on their own, ripping out of her handbag, and the rest.
I don’t think Lyn would be too mad and would come around and be supportive.
Of course it would be best if she felt she could tell him All of the truth, but we don’t know for certain, but she might have been returning them.
Lots of times wives are afraid of their husbands and for good reason. There is a lot of domestic abuse that happens every day, and she could be fearful of what he might say or do.Then again if Lyn hasn’t heard Anything about the mutations starting he may not believe her.He would be far more likely to have heard of the mutations than she would have. I don’t think the airplane pilot was the very 1st, however I bet there have been more than 1 “explosion of unknown causes”.
If this is when she mutates, she must not be very inebriated since she turned into an anther and not a Whatsis lie the man with the fish head blob. She probably has been asleep since it’s morning. Sleeping fitfully is sometimes more tiring than no sleep at all. Plus I doubt if she would drink in front of Lyn. Even asleep he might wake up if he smelled it.Does vodka have a smell like other hard liquors do?
This would be a logical time for her to change except for the guilt, I know what has been stated in the past about the mutations but I feel that your mental outlook has something to do with it too. Also there is still the question of what happens to her baby.
It could also be that mouse-Holly is sequestered somewhere else, resting and recovering, while the rest of the crew are getting this perspective. I’m not sure that Holly would benefit from having to relive something so traumatic, since she’s already pretty well damaged by the initial experience of it and this doesn’t seem like the sort of thing that would be healing to confront a second time. (I don’t think Holly is in denial about her pre-mutation actions; I think she’s all too aware of the costs they brought, and thus in some ways unable to forgive herself.)
How many BuddiBombs went after Ethel? How many are left? How many could Holly have brought back home, wittingly or not?I think Holly is about to have the tables turned on her, and find herself in Ethel’s place, and find out who’s really her friend when her buddies call her “bad”.Ethel’s husband didn’t come home in time to save her, but Lyn is likely to come home to find Holly changed and under attack, and sacrifice himself to save her. Or maybe he’ll turn into a monster and the BuddiBombs will go after him as the priority target, letting her escape. In either case, she’ll be carrying this guilt to the present.Whether she deserves the blame or not, she has to let it go. She’s being shown the way, and Wally et al are being shown how to help her, if they don’t condemn her.
I counted only six of those Buddibombs going after Ethel. When Holly mutates into the mouse we all know and love, and she panics accordingly, chances are the remaining six will leap into action. It’s a pity, though… That was a lovely baby room. And I’m sure the Jacuzzi was nice, too…
I wouldn’t be shocked at all if this is holly’s last memory of her late husband. We’re either about to see her mutation, or the night she looses her unborn child. Quite possibly both. The question is the order of the two, and if it was the alcohol that ultimately killed her developing fetus. It really comes down to what happens to an existing pregnancy when the mutation occurs. There’s a slim chance holly might keep the child if she and the baby where asleep. But that scenario enters a whole other world of complications and questions.
Maybe Wally, Chic, Irving and Kirbee are being shown this scene because Holly doesn’t consciously remember the events depicted in this scene. Perhaps Holly is so traumatised, that she has repressed these memories so deeply, and cannot face them. So the helper crew here has to witness, to help Holly come to terms with her traumen. Ooh, what if Holly is off sleeping, and her dreams have captured Wally, Kirbee, Irving and Chic? ♫Sha boom, Sha boom
One possibility of how Holly lost the baby hasn’t been proposed. That the baby disappeared during her mutation. The mutation may have restructured the fetus as if it were part of her body, and have done the same to other pregnant women. This would have taken care of complications like the mother mutating into something too small to carry the baby or the baby mutating into something too large to be carried.
And who were the riders on horseback that Wally saw in his apocalyptic vision, long ago? This and many more pieces may eventually come together like a jigsaw puzzle.
I suspect that they are still on the ship, which has the resources to make a much more realistic simulation than the ones we’ve seen. For starters, the ship probably has automated cooking facilities and they might be sophisticated enough to produce the meal that Wally, Kirbee and Chic enjoyed. While dittos may not be able to reproduce sound (that duplicate Wally in the boxing ring suggests that they may) the ship could easily have a sound system that could provide any audio needed and with lots of dittos, other parts of the simulation could also be more accurate, like the painfully accurate aircar crash. There are other explanations, but Occam’s razor suggests that the simplest explanation is most likely to be correct. I’ll shave with that.

If Holly is truly asleep, or if she falls asleep—-it would be a perfect time for “the transition” to mouse/Holly.
If she’s awake when it hits, she turns into a monster, right?
