The underside of a horse's hoof is called a frog! Slushy Savior!! Shawn Dalton of Chicago, Illinois, credits a 32 oz. frozen daiquiri with helping slow a bullet and saving his life! After 40 years of friendship and sharing the same birthday, Luke Monias and Norman Barkman of Manitoba, Canada, discovered they had been switched at birth!

Here’s the story on Shawn Dalton

A frozen daiquiri wouldn’t slow a bullet enough to not penetrate a chest. The best explanation is that he was fortunate enough to be hit with the bullet from a defective cartridge.Sometimes factory ammunition is not loaded properly, due to high volume. Either a partial powder charge or a cartridge that was subjected to a wet or oily environment is the more likely scenario. Everyone who shoots a lot and re-loads ammunition will know about defective ammunition.

Also Treesareus, that frog has to be trimmed & cleaned properly from time to time! The old Blacksmiths used to do this.

And I have seen a “frog” send a dog flying twenty or more feet across a barnlot!

For those that didn’t read the article MadCow so graciously posted for us, the shooting took place in New Orleans, not Chicago. Mr. Dalton was on Bourbon Street at the time. The shooting took place on June 29, 2014. His story is in the second section of the article.

The Triple Crown races start next month; makes sense that a horse hoof part would get some attention from Ripley’s. With American Pharoah winning the Triple Crown last year, I expect that a there will be a lot less suspense and hope this year for a Triple Crown winner.Surprise horse race winners always stay in my memory better than those that win two races out of three. If Birdstone has a grand offspring winning any of this year’s races (offspring Mine That Bird and Summer Bird were subsequent winners), of course I hope not to hear that a hoof injury in a subsequent race necessitates putting that horse down.
