Sluggo: Go in and put on a BEBOP record.
Nancy: I can't stand that loud music. I don't know why he likes bebop.
Noises: BANG CRASH CLANK
Sluggo: Ah---Dat's pretty---What's th' name of dat number?
Yes, it’s the late 1940s, and bebop is around. Like much newly emerging music forms, bebop might have seemed frenetic and wild to other than hard-core jazz listeners..I enjoy trying to play it in piano transcription. Of course transcribed jazz is somewhat fossilized by nature, not having essential spontaneity. .Although I’ll certainly get hammered for giving these as representative bebop (they’re a combination with bebop of jazz and swing), I especially like Sir Roland Hanna in the following:.Sir Roland Hanna, “I Hear You Knockin’ But You Can’t Come In” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_giiEda6ws.Roland Hanna – Swing Me No Waltzes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5frcJHV7YQ

I guess Ernie didn’t care for “Bird” or “Dizzy.”

So true, and if only he knew the garbage to come, culminating in rap and hip hop.
