Mike and Joe, don’t you knowI stay up late to keep a dateTo write a poem that’ll soar and roamThat brings a smile and goes the mileBut the past few days there’s been no wayI need some meat on the rib to eatYet all I get is a Nintendo rejectA Looney Tune Doc and a hand puppet sockPlease hear my plea and do a favor for meYou’ll put a smile on my face If you speed up the pace That’s all from meIt’s time to catch some ZZZZZzzzzzzz’s!!
I like the drawing style of the characters in the computer, including Matty’s view of Prof. Glitch. It’s yet another stylistic variation. We’ve already seen Harold-Gray-style Annie on the island and Vera Alldid’s J. Straightedge Trustworthy. The style of the characters in the computer has some similarities with the JST characters, but I don’t think it’s the same.
Matty Squared and the mouse are made up of mostly straight lines and some circular arcs. It’s a clear indication of when you’re inside the world of the computer and when you’re in Tracy’s “real world.”
For those who missed my repost late last night of Mike Curtis’s announcement on Facebook yesterday:
The Official announcement and a piece of news.
In an unusual adventure involving two syndicates, Dick Tracy will be hosting the famous detective FEARLESS FOSDICK just before July 4 this year.
In the 1940’s Al Capp, writer and artist of L’IL ABNER came up with the idea that Abner would be a fan of the incredible comic strip detective FEARLESS FOSDICK, a spoof of Chester Gould’s DICK TRACY. Originally sporting a yellow fedora, Fosdick had ridiculous adventures involving such fiends as the Chippendale Chair , Anyface, and appeared in ads for Wildroot Crème Oil and a early TV puppet show.
Denis Kitchen, publisher and author, was instrumental in bringing the two parties together. The adventure also involves a villain from the L’IL ABNER comic strip and is scheduled to run Sunday July 26 through Sunday July 3.
Cute. Give the sentient program a mouse (albeit an obsolescent one: see CFinFL’s post above) to help it steal the electronified riches! Virtual criminal can’t do it on his own? Harumph!
I look forward to the crossover appearance of L’il Abner’s hero, Fearless Fosdick, whom I remember from the Good Old Days when lovable shmoos roamed the bountiful earth! I only wish we could see Fearless in his yellow fedora again, but I guess that would be expecting too much of the various copyright holders involved (but it was so much better than the bowler he was legally forced to adopt instead)….

You would think that Matty being high tech, would have a wireless mouse, not a corded one.

Wait’ll Glitch tells Matty he has to click on the mouse.

I notice that from Matty’s viewpoint, Doc Glitch also has a stylized “computer icon” look.

I like the new Matty and his “Says you!” attitude. The throwback graphics remind me of the great old Atari games, which is also fun!

Thanks for the pic. I’ll admit it’s a little snug, but it actually looks pretty good.AnyFace over 8 years ago
