This is a lesson about how our plans often take a detour into the future. Man proposes; God disposes. Or, even better, a bit from Bobby Burns,

The best laid schemes o’ Mice an’ Men,Gang aft agley,An’ lea’e us nought but grief an’ pain,For promis’d joy!

Hell, I’ve been talking to people for over a half-century (won’t say how much over) and, quite frankly, I find my dog is easier to communicate to.

Whiteheron, the whole “it takes a village” sensibility is what happened to it. It has pervaded our culture that somewhere there’s a People’s Central Committee to take care of everything, so why would individuals need to pay attention? And we’re about to elect it again.

It’s nice to see Mrs. Olsen getting some respect. When the strip started, Frazz wouldn’t even let her use his nickname.

And as a teacher, I have seen high school kids suppose the same thing: “I already have the world figured out; why do I have to sit here and be bored by you?” I felt sorry for them and loved them anyway.

Good question. Why would a 2nd grade teacher need a masters in anything? The real answer lies in the unholy cabal of teachers universities and unions. Further the higher the qualifications the easier to bar entry. A tried and true practice unions have used to keep minorities out of certain professions. why we have over the top requirements for people to be beauticians and plumbers.

Oh good the guy who whines about bad schools and women troubles hasn’t shown up for his daily psych session rant, yet..When I started school in Mississippi, the subs didn’t have to have ANY degree, a parent could sub if need be. I recall when they changed that the librarian making a comment to the effect of “I wonder if that covers the Kindergarten assistants since that’s where all the student teachers end up getting their classroom time?”

A man asked his son what he intended to be when he grew up. The boy said he wanted to be a teacher.Dad did his best to get the boy to change his mind and be a doctor or a lawyer, because there is more prestige.

Son asked his dad, “But who is going to teach the doctors and lawyers?”

The difficulty in teaching a student is directly proportional to the density of the student. - Aesoc’s Law of Information Dissemination.
